DETAILED ITINERARY

Day 1: Arrival in Uganda, Kampala City tour

Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport you will be met by our safari guide who will transfer you to Kampala to a hotel booked for you.

In case you have had an early flight to Uganda, you will be taken on a brief tour of the city of Kampala. You will visit some of the hills that make up Kampala.

You will visit the tax park, Bahai temple, Kabaka’s Lake, Kabaka’s palace, Uganda museum, return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Transfer to Lake Mburo, Late Afternoon/ Evening game drive

You will set off from Kampala at 6:30am and head to the western part of Uganda to Lake Mburo National Park. The drive takes 3-4 hours with a stopover at the Equator for an opportunity to stand in both the northern and southern hemispheres at the same time. You will continue through the savannah grasslands dotted with settlements, plantations and several herds of local long horned Ankole cattle endemic to this part of the country.

You will go for a late afternoon/ evening game drive. Expect to see zebra, hippos, crocodiles, eland, antelope, impala and a variety of birds. Dinner and overnight will be at your lodge of booking.

Day 3: Walking Safari and transfer to Kibale Forest National Park

Rise early for breakfast before a short drive to the Rwonyo park headquarters. This has often been a good chance of seeing hyenas coming back to the water you will see buffalo zebra, impala and topi and with a bit of luck may be even asitatunga,an antelope rarely seen living in the papyrus swamps.

After your early morning activities, return the lodge for a late breakfast on the wooden decking overlooking the water hole and later transfer to Kibale National Park.

Day 4: Chimp tracking and Bigodi Swamp Walk in Kibale Forest

After breakfast you will report at the Kanyanchu Tourist Centre at 08.00 am for a briefing on the rules before tracking the chimpanzees. Kibale Forest National Park has the greatest variety and highest concentration of primates in East Africa. The most famous of its 13 species is the Chimpanzee known to be a delightful ape.

The trek takes 2-3 hours and it will provide you with the opportunity to also see a variety of other primates and animals as well as birds, and a variety of butterflies, and other insects. You will return to the lodge for lunch and in the afternoon go for a nature walk in the Bigodi Wetland to see a variety of birds and monkey species.

You will return to your lodge for lunch after which we shall depart for Queen Elizabeth National Park.

Day 5: Game drive and boat cruise, Evening game drive in Queen Elizabeth National Park

After your morning breakfast, you will have an early morning Game drive where you will see the lion, leopard, giant forest hog, Cape buffalo, elephant, defassa waterbuck, Uganda Kob, topi and bushbuck among others. You will return to your lodge for lunch and in the afternoon go for a 2-hour boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel. The 42km channel joins Lake Edward and Lake George.

This trip passes through possibly the highest concentration of hippos and offers an excellent platform for photography, bird watching and game viewing. The prolific bird life is colorful with over 550 resident species.

Later, you will have an evening game drive in search for lion, leopard, giant forest hog, Cape buffalo, elephant, defassa waterbuck, Uganda Kob, topi and bushbuck among others.

Dinner and overnight will be spent at your reserved lodge.

Day 6: Travel to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park via Ishasha Sector

You will have breakfast and drive south to Bwindi impenetrable forest National Park via the Ishasha sector.

You will have a 3hour game drive in Ishasha sector in search for the tree climbing lions and other animal and bird species. After a picnic lunch, enroute to Bwindi.

Dinner and overnight will be spent at your reserved lodge.

Day 7: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi and transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

You will have an early morning breakfast and move to the Park headquarters to join other trackers in a briefing about the gorilla trekking rules at 7:45 am. You will trek through thick creepers and undergrowth with your guides to find the Gorillas, which can take you 1-8 hours.

You will have one hour to stay with the Gorillas once sited and thereafter set off for Lake Bunyonyi National Park arriving in the evening.

Dinner and overnight will be at your lodge of booking.

Day 8: Canoe Trekking On Lake Bunyonyi –Uganda

After breakfast, set out for a 5- hour canoe trek as well as bird watching on the beautiful lake bunyonyi traversing to the Gorgeos Kyabahinga Peninsula. Here you will be gladly welcomed with songs plus dances by the resident school children. You will enjoy with the locals at least a cup of “Obushera”which is a local brew yes will ascend the Kyabahinga slops having a wonderful opportunity to enjoy the birdlife and the verdant terrain.

The view is very break taking! The guide will certainly brief you about the history of the area. Among the bird species you will see the dusky Tutle dove, the handsome francolin and alpine chat. Arenown herbalist who is a traditional healer-omugurusi Jeremiah, based on the hill top will disclose to you some of the secrets about the flora on the tropical highland. After, you will return to the lodge for lunch and transfer to Parc Volcanoes National Park.

Day 9: Trekking gorillas in Volcanoes National Park

You will have an early breakfast and move to the Park headquarters at Kinigi at 8:30am for briefing about the rules on Gorilla tracking. You will be allocated a Gorilla family to track and guides to lead you to the Gorillas.

The tracking will be a 2-5 hour exercise after which you will be returned to the lodge for lunch.

Dinner and overnight will be at the Hotel of your booking.

Day 10: Golden Monkey tracking, Kigali city and departure

You will have breakfast; you will go for golden monkey tracking in Volcanoes National Park. You will assemble at the Park head quarter for a briefing on the Golden monkey tracking rules before going out to track them in the forest. You will after tracking go for Kigali City excursion.

You will visit the Genocide memorial site, the colourful markets and the craft centres. You will be returned to your hotel for lunch after which you will be transferred to the Airport for your departure flight.
